PIANO TUNING
With thirty years of experience and a vast knowledge of the upright & grand piano, you can be rest assured that your piano will receive the best possible care and attention. To look after your piano, it should be tuned once a year. Pianos sound best at "Concert Pitch", but don't worry if your piano has fallen flat - it can still be tuned to itself. A tuning takes about one hour. One-off bookings can also be made in your own home. For more information, give me a call.
PIANO REPAIRS
If a note has stopped working, or it works intermittently, some repairs can be done in your home. If a note has stopped working, it will need to be repaired first before it can be tuned. A common problem is sticking keys - that's no problem!
If a larger repair is needed, the offending part may need to be taken away (e.g. broken hammer shank).
PIANO SERVICING
Pianos should be serviced about every 2-3 years (depending on its use and age). Servicing is a separate job to tuning, which may include mechanism cleaning, various adjustments (regulation work), and/or hammer voicing. If your piano sounds "tinny", some voicing may be required. I also check pianos for insect damage.Servicing takes around 2 hours.
PIANO RESTORATION
Should your piano need that one step further, some restoration work may be needed. Covering a wide number of services including: Mechanism refurbishment, dampers, keyboard, pedals, re-stringing and more. Prior to any restoration work (or major repairs), your piano will need to be assessed first.
OTHER WORK
It is always advisable to know the model, serial number, age and mechanism design of your piano. If you are selling your piano, I can offer top tips for the correct wording to use. Please note that I do not give valuations, only general help.
