ODD PACKAGE from £40 - c.£150 (approx)
Including basic on-site repairs such as re-pinning, broken hammer or bridle tape / small repairs/ jack spring/ strings missing/ loose tuning pin etc.Recommended for pianos generally in good condition, only requiring odd repairs.
£45 for first hour (call-out), then £20 per hour thereafter/ parts not included / no warranty/ tuning not included. A 2nd visit may be required if broken parts need workshop attention, or parts needing to be ordered. This is not a package deal, and each repair is priced separately; should your piano be very old, this may result in multiple visits/ repairs. If your piano is old and has multiple problems, the package deals below are recommended.
LOOSE TUNING PIN PACKAGE £275 (popular service for old pianos)
So far.... 100% successful with no issues
For loose or "spongy" feeling tuning pins/ piano not holding in tune for long
INJECTION SOLUTION PROCESS
We operate a special one-off service for pianos that suffer from loose tuning pins and cannot easily stay in tune.
This is normally caused by central heating, drying out the wrest plank / subject to cracks/ general wear and tear
If you have had the odd tuning pin replaced, this often means that more will come loose sooner or later.
Upright pianos are tipped onto their back with a machine, and a special solution is injected into the tuning pin hole areas, allowing to soak overnight.
Duration: 2 days (local) -- please allow plenty space in your room for this service.
There are risks involved with old pianos, however this life saver is recommended if you have a limited budget and want to try out
this method first, instead of restringing costs.
If any tuning pins have collapsed (below 7 degrees from horizontal), or if there are large gaps between pin & wrest pin hole, then this method may not be 100% successful - instead, an oversized tuning pin must be driven in (at extra cost).
Certain makes of piano (i.e. Eavestaff mini, 1930s) cannot be restrung with new tuning pins - as not available, leaving only this option.
This service is also available for grand pianos - same cost for tri-chord arrangement (local)
Additional costs apply to Bluthner grand pianos with "Aliquot" (4th string) arrangement.
For more information, please get in touch. .
The following repair & improvement package deals include a part or full strip-down of the mechanism, cleaning, and replacement
of all 85 or 88 parts mentioned. All come with warranty and tuning included. Additional labour = £20/ hour
Package deals A - D require mechanism to be taken away, not the whole piano (local only).
If you live a considerable distance away (e.g. London/ Scotland), then for any package deal, the whole piano must be shipped.

GRAND PIANO REPAIRS & IMPROVEMENT PACKAGE DEALS / RESTORATION PRICES
For most grand pianos up to 5ft in length (about baby grand size), the above details and prices are very similar.
Certain parts such as hammer rollers / removal costs/ 6ft+ in length will require a separate quote
MIX 'N' MATCH PACKAGE DEALS
We may be able to mix and match a package deal that suits you.
For example, if the pedal mechanism is still in good working condition (yet listed in a package deal), we may be able to tidy up any pedal work, and extend (say) re-pinning, if required to make up the difference in work. If additional repairs are required, we may list these separately, such as un-seizing key capstan grub screws/ let-off screws.
UNSEIZING SCREWS + PARTS
During the repairs/ resto to any piano mechanism, all adjustment screws must be able to be turned freely for later adjustments. If most of these are rusty/ seized solid - we will need to free them off, then wind them back down (or up) to their original settings. This process takes along time, and may involve "impact" driving screws & slots, and/or heating screws to loosen them. We also use a "wiggle" technique - by wiggling rusty screws back & forth for about 5 minutes each to loosen them. This kind of work costs around £50 in addition to your quotation (packages A - D). All screw threads will be freed of rust, soaked in WD40, cleaned and dried ready for re-fitting. Should any grub screw break, we have a few spares. Should any let-off screws break, there would be an additional charge for replacement screws.
Any extra work will be shown on your quotation, and priced accordingly.
PIANOS WE MAY NOT BE ABLE TO RESTORE
Please note that we may not be able to restore the following pianos (please ask):-
Eavestaff mini pianos (1930s art deco style/ never previously serviced/ very poor condition)
[For most repairs, all mini pianos may need to be removed into the workshop - i.e. Kemble Minx/ Eavestaff 50s]
Spring & Loop / over-damped mechanisms (pianos pre 1910)
Re-string 3/4 framed cast or wooden framed pianos (i.e. cottage pianos)
Lindler (IRL) Irish upright pianos from the 1970s (those with plastic snap-on parts) models: Lindner/ Topic / Cameo / Festival
Learn more about Lindner....
Pianos with over-damped mechanism (bird cage) - that may appear in poor condition
ANY piano predominantly stored in a cold/ damp environment (i.e. garage).... and/or with excess insect or wood worm damage
ANY piano with living insects/ larvae or serious levels of damage may be refused
A piano mechanism/ strings with any degree of mould, rust, corrosion or badly seized parts may be subject to an additional quote.
If your piano requires repairs/ notes not working etc., please do not book a "tuning" visit - your piano cannot be tuned until all the repairs have been done - this may require a separate visit. Once the mechanism is working correctly, you can then book a tuning appointment.
Please complete the form below for a "repair" appointment first.
For all repairs and restoration package deals, your piano must be assessed and fully inspected (face to face) first before we can advise you of costs and the best package deal to choose. You will also be asked a few questions as we progress after our initial contact..
Here are some of the questions asked (which you should include answers in your request form below):
1. Where do you live in the UK/ abroad?
2. How long have you owned your piano?
3. What is the approximate value of your piano (e.g. auction selling price)?
4. If bought on-line, did you have your piano inspected first prior to purchase?
5. Has a piano tuner/ technician been called out to your home recently? Results? When called out?
6. Based on our given package deals, what is your budget for repairs?
We may require some "specially taken" photos of your piano first before an assessment is made; we will let you know.
Photos submitted must include at least one of the internal mechanism in full (clear and focussed) - we would show you how the photos need to be taken. Please note that photos do not replace an assessment.
If we agree to restore your piano (after inspection/ price agreed etc), we will send you an application form to be completed.
Please remember that we must SEE your piano, like a builder would need to see your home prior to a quote.
Any piano that has been assessed/ inspected, but refused restoration will still be required to pay the assessment fee.
