PIANO TUNING FEES
The following tuning fees apply to most standard upright or grand pianos within a 10 mile radius
Please allow up to 90 minutes for your piano to be tuned
Fees do not include repairs or servicing
ET = Equal Temperament Scaling
There is no fixed fee for a piano tuning; this depends on the age, condition of the piano and when it was last tuned.
After a successful piano tuning visit, your next visit (say in 12 months time) will be more accurate for a quote.
The following information is a guide.
Please provide the following information when booking your piano tuning:
a. Name and type of piano (e.g. Bechstein upright) If your piano has no name, please state "no name".
b. Last time it was tuned (if you do not know, the tuning fee shown/ quoted will be estimated)
<1> Standard tuning visit at pitch settled/ one-off visit/ annual (unknown piano/ new customer): £50 - £75
<2> Re-visit <1> piano 6 months later: £55
<3> Standard tuning at pitch/ bi-annual visit: £65
<4> Contract piano tuning - regular 6 monthly visits/ annual payment:
<4a> Minimum call-out fee £45.
If your piano is badly out of tune, only a pre-tuning (rough) may be carried out; a 2nd visit may be required.
**Very old piano** (pre 1920): Any piano that is very old may be risky to tune, especially over-damped pianos.
If your piano cannot be tuned, or only partly tuned, the minimum call-out fee <4a> is still charged within one hour of the visit.
Should your piano be OK to tune, fee <1> is applicable.
Before a contract can be offered, I will need to assess your piano first and carry out a full standard tuning.
<5> Pitch raise / drop to Concert Pitch (band 2) / requires 2 visits one week apart: £130
Visit 1: Pitch change Visit 2: ET Tuning
Pitch changing depends on the condition of strings; if band 3 or over, 3 visits may be required.
<6> Player Piano (pianola) tuning £100 - £120
<7> Mini Eavestaff piano tuning (1930s/ subject to condition) £120 - £150
